Jeremy Weisbach:  Founder + Executive Director

Jeremy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the summer of 1990 at the age of 9. During his younger years, Jeremy felt embarrassed and neglected the proper management of his diabetes. He graduated from Illinois State University, in 2004, earning a major in Finance and a minor in Economics. After spending nearly 5 years in the real estate industry, he was not satisfied with his accomplishments.

Jeremy then discovered his passion: to connect and support those touched by diabetes, so that no one faces diabetes alone! He left his full time job as a property manager to pursue his passion, of helping those in the diabetes community. Currently, Jeremy enjoys an active lifestyle, playing basketball, rollerblading, and exercising frequently. More than anything, he loves to inspire those touched by diabetes, to pursue their goals and dreams in life. Diabetes doesn't have to stop anyone...it is only a challenge that can be overcome with proper education and support!

Scott Winston:  IT Director

Scott has known Jeremy, the Founder of Jimmy Insulin, since they were just a few years old. For over 25 years now, they have remained best friends. Although Scott is an only child, he considers Jeremy to be a brother. In 2004, Scott graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems. He currently works as a software developer and technical designer in Glenview, IL. He also has a personal training business.

When JI was created, Scott knew he wanted to be a part of Jeremy's organization. Scott is responsible for the management and maintenance of Jimmy Insulin’s website and database. His 6’7”, larger than life, frame and personality provide the necessary support for the infrastructure of this organization. Mr. Winston looks forward to supporting the evolution of Jimmy Insulin.

Meredith Swartz:  Marketing Director

Meredith was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the Fall of 2001 at the age of 25. Being diagnosed as an adult, Meredith aimed to fit diabetes into her life, rather than let diabetes define it. Her deliberate and thoughtful approach ensured that she could continue to live the active, social, and ambitious lifestyle to which she was accustomed. Having already earned a BFA in Graphic Design from The University of Michigan in 1998, she received her MBA from The University of Chicago in 2004.

Meredith works as a freelance designer and strategist. She is proud to be both a healthy mother and wife, and yearns to guide others with diabetes through any challenges they might see ahead. Whether it’s climbing Machu Picchu, diving with great white sharks, or giving birth, Meredith is proof that mountains really are just molehills. With a bit of planning and a few extra supplies…anything is possible.

Carola Klein:  Volunteer Coordinator

Carola was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and her family moved to the United States in 1989. She graduated from The School of the Art Insitute of Chicago, with a BFA in Design and Ceramics. Currently, she works as a sales coordinator at a contract textile company in the Merchandise Mart.

Diabetes had not touched Carola’s life directly until she met Jeremy in 2008. Ever since their first encounter, Carola is always eager to learn more and more about proper diabetes management. Carola is also Jeremy’s fiancé. Carola plays an active role in supporting Jeremy’s diabetes and in Jimmy Insulin. She is Jeremy’s “right hand man”. She helps coordinate JI volunteers and events around town. She believes in living a healthy lifestyle, which complements Jeremy’s way of life.
